Innovating with Emerging Technology, why is it important?

What do we mean by emerging technology? How do you distinguish between the hype and technology innovation that can bring real value to your organisation? Is it the same as ‘digital transformation’, or is it something different? Does it cost a lot, and is it complicated to deliver? And how do you get started in making use of emerging tech?

Mark Thompson, Methods Group Strategy Director and Professor of Digital Economy at Exeter University and Paul Greenhead, Director of Change & Innovation at Methods, outline what emerging technology is and how is it impacting the public sector.

You will gain an understanding of what emerging technology is and why it is important for public sector organisations to think seriously about how they engage with it. The session will provide examples of how emerging technology and innovation can be used to transform public services and the pitfalls of not having a plan for dealing with it.
